Do I need location access? No. You can search and save cities without granting location access.
Does it work offline? City search, saved clocks, and solar calculations work offline. Maps and current-location locality lookup use Apple network services.
Why can sunrise differ from what I see? Solar times are estimates. Terrain, elevation and weather may affect visibility. Some polar dates have no sunrise or sunset. Clock accuracy depends on your device clock.
